dell laptop screen flickering

Help! The screen flickers intermitintly, how do I diagnose the cause? It's over 3 years old and no longer covered under warrantee! I don't have anyone I trust to help with this. I need my laptop for my living. Thanks!

Hi,

First connect an external monitor and see if the flickering will happen on it because if it does it means you have a bad graphics card but if not it may just be a problem with the built in display. Please do try to uninstall the old driver and install the latest driver that you can download from it's manufacturer.

Make sure to reboot the laptop once the latest driver has been installed and observe if the flickering will still happen because if it does it means that the built in display may need a replacement already.
