Dell latitude e5440 not working

I plugged my dell latitude in one day it was charging and all of a sudden it died the light on the charger tip turned it self off so i try to power the laptop back on nothing i unplugged the charger from the laptop and the wall plugged it back into the wall and the light goes back on but as soon as i plug in the laptop the light on the charger dies again so i starting to think its the power supply. IF THERE ARE ANY COMPUTER EXPERTS PLEASE HELP. Sorry about all the caps not trying to be rude

Try the system without the battery, on wall power only. If that does not work, try it on battery only (if you know it's charged). Try a different charger.

You may be a genius but we are not mind readers.

I doubt anyone on the forum is a genius so if you can't figure it out, may as well replace the system.

so it was a shortage in the motherboard getting it replaced (Norm Jr)
