Dell Latitude E6410 won't connect to Samsung KS8000 Smart TV

I connected my Dell E6410 to Samsung KS8000 with a Displayport to HDMI cable. The laptop downloaded some drivers from the TV, but does not connect when I choose PC from the source menu. What am I missing?

set your pc to use the samsung tv.
if your pc did not detect it, then your cable is not working. I was once bought a hdmi to vga converter, and its a bust. The I look another different kind (still passive adapter) and it worked.
