Seems like a could buy, but should I buy it?

Well, it's probably going on 3 years old now, so every piece of hardware in it is about 3 generations behind.

I would:
a) make sure that it still works
b) is still in good shape

Like you said, see if he will let you give it a test drive. I would be hesitant to buy it otherwise, even if it's just for $200.
I highly, highly doubt that a notebook with a 7950 is brand new.

How much is it?

Edit: whoops, missed the $200. There has to be something wrong with it. It shouldn't be that cheap, even if it is old.
 
no... but hav played games with him online while he was playing the laptop, I'll probably ask if I can try it out.. But other then that for 200 bucks it's a good deal?
