Hey,
Can't decide between those 2 laptops. I'm searching for a multimedia and general use (studying, surfing) laptop that will replace my home pc and will also be durable.

Lenovo specs:

Intel® Core™ i7-4702QM Processor 2.2GHz
"15.6 LED 1920x1080
NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 740M 2GB
8GB DDR3
1TB 5400RPM + 8GB SSHD Cache
Windows 8.1
4 cell battery
2.2 kg
1 Year warrenty

Dell Vostro 5470 specs:

Intel® Core™ i5-4200U Processor 1.6GHz up to 3.0 ghz
"14 LED 1366x768 Touch Screen
NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 740M 2GB
8GB DDR3
128GB SSD
Windows 8
No optical drive
3 cell battery
1.6kg
3 year warrenty

Thanks

mainly because the dell has an ssd while the lenovo has a hybrid drive. Having an ssd is well worth it (faster boot and load times on applications, less freezes/crashing, better at multitasking, increase in battery life by 10-15% average, etc). I hope 128GB will be enough for you though.

Sorry this is so late - there are unanswered questions and it may help someone as this responds to a google search. In general, you would decide for the better processor vs. better hard drive at the same price point in this situation. Why? Because it's really easy to upgrade a hard drive later and while you can upgrade a CPU in a laptop, it's rarely done because of the labor to do it.

Regarding build quality, you have consumer and business class laptops - Lenovo creates only business class laptops and Latitude is Dell's brand for their business class laptop. What do you get with a biz class vs. consumer class? Longer product lifecycle for better replacement parts availability AND better build strength to withstand drops better, including better shock protection and features like a free-fall sensor that stops Hard Disk Drives spinning when the laptop thinks it's falling to the ground. The read head digging into a spinning disc is not good when you have a presentation your business is relying on in 5 minutes :D
