My vote is for the Dell. The HP Compaq seems to be an older system with dated hardware (unless I am mistaken). And unless I am missing something, you can't customize the HP, whereas the Dell you can change on the site to best fit your needs.

I have bought HP and I really regret that decision. I guess I will sell it on Ebay soon and buy something else.

The main problem is that stupid HP does not allow you to install other drivers than those "certified" by them. Which in fact means you are stuck with non-working out-dated drivers.

Second, it comes preloaded with tons of crap.

Third, but that might be Vista fault as well, it is really barely usable with many glitches. E.g. each 5th time it wakes up from sleep or hibernation, it fails. Sometimes the system is corrupted in the process too.

I really hate HP!

First thing I do with all new laptops is to format and reinstall the OS...removes all the bloatware.
