Desktop comparison to laptop choices

So As I have had number of suggestions from different people. I would like to see how my desktop would compare to these laptop which would help me imagine how powerful they actually are.

My desktop is:
I5 4690K
8gb DDR3 ram
GeForce GTX 970 4gb

The laptops that I have looked at have these configurations:

I would be using the laptops for light gaming and mainly sketching and 3d modelling. So how would u compare each of the laptops to my desktop.

Desktop is better because it's a desktop and not limited by anything. Processor more powerful, GPU more powerful... Yeah.

For sketching & 3d modeling just from looking at specs I'd go with the P50 due to the better quadro card in it for the modelling, a good i7 processor for better threading, and faster RAM. You will be able to game on it but be prepared to have a cooling pad handy, and don't expect 60 FPS or ultra graphics.

To what geforce would u say that the quadro m500m and the m1000m is? Would getting a laptop like the alienware or xps15 be also good for this type of work or would the P50 be best or the precision 5510 if with an I7. I only would play games like CS GO on the laptop anyway. I have the desktop for more demanding games

It's hard for me to say exactly, but I would say somewhere in the high 700m series? The GTX cards do not have the Quadro drivers, so no, they would not be as good for the modeling you'll be doing. I would imagine the precision would be more money with the i7 + 8gb DDR4 than the P50 is, so worse deal.

Generally desktop is much powerful and upgradable than laptop, but I heavily reply on the mobility of the laptop, so..

With the precision if I choose the i7 processor they only have the i7 6820HQ which would bring the price £1350. So would still the dell not be the best option. I think it is also lighter to the Lenovo.

I have been looking at some of the MSI laptops but I heard that the battery isnt great compared to like the P50 or even the Precision 5510/Xps15. And that they get pretty warm. Im sure that the other latops will as well at heavy work but MSI is supposed to get hot earlier. Correct me if im not right.

Any laptop that's worked heavily will get hot due to the nature of laptops. I've had the issue with any laptop that I've had that if I work them too heavily without sufficient breathing room, they'll potentially heat up to 80+C. That being said, if you don't use them really hard, they won't.

How much RAM can you configure with the Precision? 'Cause it's only got 8Gb up there, where the P50 has 16.

The precision 5510 has upgradable to 32 gb and the P50 has ugradable to 64gb but I dont think I would go over 16gb

I wouldn't either, but I'd compare prices. If the precision is better for the same price go for that then.

Which one would you say has the better screen. I also heard the the dell support isnt that great. Is that true?

Never had to deal with them as I've never bought any of their products. As for the better screen, they both have a 4k screen option, but the rest of the options are FHD at 15.6" (counting the configurations of both the p50 and 5510), so neither has the better screen, as they're also both IPS. So they're the same. These can essentially be configured to be the same machine, but it depends on what price it's going to be. Just from going off of their websites:

So, I know that these are in USD, but it still illustrates the price difference. At least in the US, you get a worse processor, a worse battery because it's not compatible with a 1 TB HDD? Wtf are you doing Dell??? and the rest of the specs are equivalent, but you're getting the worse product for a higher price. Most likely because the Dell beats the Lenovo by a full ~1.5 pounds/.75kg.

I also heard that lenovo has the best keyboards on the market. The P50 is also a bit larger so less portable.

I've never been a huge fan of laptop keyboards regardless so I'm not one to talk about that It's only less portable if you're not willing to carry it, any standard 15.6" laptop carrier will hold it.
