I'm not sure what happened to my old thread, so I'm remaking it with changes:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. What is your budget?

$1500 before peripherals and SSDs, though I would prefer to pay less.

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?

15"-17".

3. What screen resolution do you want?

FHD 1080p.

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?

Desktop replacement.

5. How much battery life do you need?

At least three hours while surfing the Web.

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?

Graphic-intensive 3D games. For example: The Witcher 2, Skyrim, Dishonored, and Assassin's Creed 3. I want to play recent games on at least high settings and most games that are released over the next two years on at least medium settings.

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)

Perhaps I will edit videos and render graphics.

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?

750gb

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.

LPC-digital, GentechPC, XoticPC, Alienware

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?

Two or more years

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?

DVD/CD reader.

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.

Preferences:

(i) Clevo: Plain appearance.
(ii) MSI: More ergonomic than the Clevo.
(iii) Alienware: The best combination of build quality, ergonomics, and performance.

13. What country do you live in?

United States.

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.

I would prefer a plain-looking, unassuming laptop.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The MSI GX60 sounds good, but I don't know how much the CPU will bottleneck the 7970m in future games. The MSI GT60-0nc and GT60-0nd have Fermi GPUs, and I'm not sure if the 670m or 675m will suffice at all, so I don't want to pay the premium for those. The Clevo p150em ostensibly has poor audio quality and ergonomics.

Bump.

I'll probably splurge for a GT60/70 with 680m, because I want to avoid rebrands. Can anyone speak for the Clevo W370ET or MSI GX60?
