I am thinking to buy a new laptop... I will surely buy 4th gen itself. But i just wanted to know what is the basic difference between 3rd gen and 4th gen processors? Which one is better for gaming?

if you find a 3rd gen much cheaper the speed difference isn't great between them. the gpu part got better but for gaming you will want a dedicated graphics from nvidia or amd anyway.

The supposed speed difference isn't much. With laptops it is a good idea to buy last gen at a lower price cuz "new" really isn't that much better but you can get a much better price/performance (with warranty) for last gen cpu laptop.

To be exact, the answer is that any revision and subsequent re-release is a 'new gen'. What that change is or what benefits are seen can only be determined by bench-marking/reviewing the hardware in question.

Each piece of hardware will be different. There is no general standard for what performance differences you see, especially if you don't even post what system it is built in to.

Your Q is way too vague to get any meaningful answers.

Even if I assume it is an Intel processor the benefits depend on whether you are using a GPU or the Integrated graphics, and the model of the processor (have different speeds and different HD graphics modules, even in the same series IE 4th gen i7s can be HD4600, HD5000, HD5200).. etc

I heard people believe everything they heard on the internet, it that true?
Joking aside, as long as it run under the max, it is fine.
