Disable mic on dell studio laptop

Usually there's an F button that toggles the mic, no? I want to disable ambient recording. How do I? jeff

Those function keys are for audio out and media keys. If you want to disable your microphone, you should click start > Type in Sound > Click on Sound (Control Panel) > Then click the Recording tab, and right click on your Microphone and press disable or you can choose another device and set it as the default.
