Beats shouold be fine, but I haven't used them before. Try using them and see how you like them. Gaming headphones come with more features. I bought a pair of creatives that come with a virtual 3D and a decent set of enhancements (USB soundcard and drivers with special effects). The built-in mice / mic attachment is probably easier than always clipping anther wire onto your shirt.
As for quality? My creatives sound a bit better than cheap headphones and the effects help me customize them to where I like. I like the extra audio dongle because my desktop's cheap motherboard /case pick up interference on the front headphone port that drives me crazy. The inline volume control needed WD-40 for ages though since the left and right headphone speakers stopped playing at the same volume after a while.
