Do the letters on the keys of Lenovo X1 6th gen Carbon 2018 and DELL XPS 13 2018 wear off over time?

I recall that the letters on the keys of my Thinkpad got worn off overtime. How about those on the Lenovo Carbon X1 6th gen 2018 and the DELL XPS 13" 2018?

one of my friends bought Lenovo Carbon X1 and I am feeling sad to say that the keys of his laptop were also worn off over time. So you can't be sure about the keys and moreover, it depends on handling too.

It was 20 years ago when I used the T series. Why don't think fix this problem?
