Doubled the drive size. Shouldn't that double record time?

Have an HS2000 and the HD just went out. Replaced the 30gig with a 60 gig.
Everything works great except when I hit pause it states that there are
only 20 hours remasining. This is what the old 30gig drive did. Did I
mess up the patch or something?

thanks

Yes, pause will show 20 hours remaining. This is what it should show,
and is NOT related to your old drive. The pause time remaining is
calculated using High Quality, which takes 3 times as much space as
Standard.

If you have shows programmed to save x hours those are deducted from the
time remaining. Even though the space isn't filled it's reserved.

Only if you told it to reserve the space ("keep until I delete" on
newer systems).

Is that based on your preference of show recording? I thought my two units
reveal the time left based on the default record method of Medium and
standard respectively. I don't record on HQ hardly at all.

No (see below).

They do in the Replay guide (that's for your recordings, not for
buffering live TV). You need to be watching live, then press 'pause'
to get a "pause time remaining" display.

The buffer (for pausing live TV) operates in High Quality, regardless
of any other settings, and that is how it calculates time remaining.

I just checked it on my 5080. The record default is set to Standard,
and all recordings on the unit are Standard (there's seldom any need
to use higher). The pause time is still calculated for High
(approximately one-third the time available in Standard, according to
the Replay guide).
