Download android app through desktop pc

My phone refuses to download and install app from google play store but accepts app shared from another phone through blue tooth. Instead of the other phone to share an app, May i use my desktop pc to download needed app to be installed on my Android phone? How can this be done? Please help.

You can download the .apk file on your desktop and transfer it to your phone via a USB cable. Just place it into a folder you can find (such as the default Downloads folder). Then, on your phone, use a file browser to navigate to the .apk and run it. You may have to go into your system settings to enable installations from unknown sources.
