I use my ipad to download many articles and documents. They are saved to icloud. I have icloud installed on my pc. When I attempt to MOVE the files, in bulk, to my PC, the process is quite lengthy. 1) transfers are very slow. 2) icloud does not actually move the files to my local pc until I initiate the move; 3) When I initiate the move, every individual file transfer causes a prompt from icloud that the file will no longer be available on icloud if it is moved, and I must confirm that I want it moved. So, if I move 30 files I get 30 such messages before each file is transferred. 4) Apparently the background process is two-fold, a download to my pc and then a transfer to the folder I have designated for this transfer. If the first step is not immediately accomplished, I receive and additional message asking me to try again.
It seems to me that icloud should have a process by which a user can bypass all of these messages.
In any event, I have found a way to bypass the first message ("will not be available" etc). Instead of MOVING the file, if I COPY the file to my ultimate folder, that message does not appear. After the downloads are over, I can quickly delete the files from icloud. I still get the "try again" message, and the transfer process is still slower than, for example, Dropbox.
This is a modification of my prior post. Actually, the "try again" message, has a place to click to avoid that message on further parts of the download. For COPYING, that works, most, but not all, of the time. It did not work for MOVING.
