drivers side speakers working intermittently when playing a cd

hi my driver side speakers working intermittently when playing a cd . but work fine when listening to the radio . any ideas what the problem could be

Since it works fine with radio that means the speaker and the connecting cables are fine, so probably the reader itself is malfunctioning.

Is the cd player part of the head unit or seperate? If seperate it could be the connection from the player/changer to the head unit. If all the same unit then could be anything in the unit itself, you are looking at having to replace it.

it's a toyota avensis sat nav cd unit
