Nothing worse than a trailer with no actually gameplay footage. Thats should be the first clue that the graphics sux. I will never understand why anyone would get excited about a game when no footage is actually shown. Sure those prerendered movies look pretty but when the game NOTHING like it, wtf is the point? Thats like watching a movie trailer and they show you pictures of the script or interviews with the cast but no clips from the movie.

Rage ftw. Prey 2 had a nice video, hopefully the game play is on par. And a new Serious Sam? Hell yes.

Pre-rendered movies are basically game engine movies that have been through aftereffects. They aren't created on the spot like most cutscenes. Of course it's gonna be prettier than the real-time rendering, but it does give you an idea of what to expect in the game.

When I first saw the SCII: WoL trailer, I was drooling at what the engine was capable of producing after aftereffects. Sure it wasn't what it looked like with the real game (which I am replaying the campaign TERRAN FTW!), but it is a fairly good example. Another game that is like this is TF2. Have you seen the Meet the Unit? Hardly any difference in quality once you factor out the aftereffects.

Of course, some people don't have enough power in their rigs to actually see the difference in quality for their respective resolution.

It's even worse when that pre-rendered crap makes its way into the actual game for the transitional cut-scenes. Too many games these days are more like watching a movie with a vibrating controller in your hand.

[citation][nom]cjhorton[/nom]RageNow that is what a game play trailer should look like![/citation]

I have complaints about the Rage trailer, 1st, whoever played it, it looked like they were using a Controller instead of a Mouse. 2nd, some of the textures looked worse than the bad ones in Half Life 2, like when he's talking to Carlson at the well. The control console had horrid looking ones specifically.
