I have an HP Pavilion dv5, not the best but it should do what i want. I am planning on making it a designated media player, plugged in to my 55" tv via HDMI output. I try to keep my entertainment center organized so i am trying to find some sort of case that will hold the laptop, as well as a cooling pad, and still look decent. I will be using a wireless keyboard/mouse to operate the system, so it is essentially a permanent enclosure. If you have a better alternative to my set up they are welcome as well. Anyone have any suggestions?

*15.5 inch screen
*Looking for a small case, something roughly the size of a "VCR"
*Prefer black, just to match the rest of the center
*Not looking to spend a lot of money.

I'm guess the screen will be down as much as possible? What I would suggest is find a box that matches your furniture and install a fan, just like a normal computer fan to keep it cool. A cooling pad will help but it needs something to exhaust the hot air.

Or maybe something like this using a wood screen and then you can paint it.http://www.coolerguys.com/woodkits.html

Yes, the screen will be essentially closed all the time, using my tv for the monitor. If i find an enclosure that does not already have sufficient exhaust ports i will modify the one i find to accommodate the ventilation needs.
