... "you humans are all RACIST!"
Seriously, blaming video games on changing people's behaviour has got to be one of the most silly things that the "experts" ever came up with. I never took these "experts" seriously, anyway, and this just makes me despise them.
I have played every "violent" game out there, and I played them waaaay before I was old enough to do so, according to silly American ratings (luckily, not all the countries are stupid enough to follow these garbage ratings), and there's no way they'll make me commit a murder... they're just games! I may enjoy massacring enemies in CS, CoD, Crysis or ME2 - violent, satisfying warfare! - but it's just a GAME! It cannot suddenly brainwash me to go and shoot people... why would I do that? Remember, there won't be a respawn for you and you can't "lose the heat" IRL. Besides, I don't see a point in shooting people in schools, colleges and youth camps... they're rarely guilty of anything that the shooters claim them to be.
I don't even know how to explain it anymore, but I believe that true gamers will understand me. You can shoot thousands virtual enemies or wipe out a star system with all inhabitants, but it has nothing to do with real life. People who accuse shooters of "training" by using video games most likely have never played any FPS themselves... how did this Oslo freak use MW2 for training? Did he at least consider that IRL, you DO get tired of running around with 2 assault rifles on your back, unlike in MW2? =)
First, it was the ignorant useless people like that advocate who kept confronting GTA series, then prudent fools who accused ME of being a perverted sex simulator (without even playing it first... I think that's enough to show them as morons) and now it's the shooters themselves who claim the games causing them to do stuff. "Oh, it's not my fault I massacred the school... the violent video game I played las week convinced me to, I swear!"
Wait, he said he *trained* in MW2... so let's blame ALL environments where bad people can train for doing bad things. I suggest closing down all the malls (you can plan your massacre path while you shop), removing all games/movies from the market (they teach you that you can attack opponents) and introducing a martial law, because you can use pretty much every public place to plan something bad.
If you cannot control what a media - a movie, a game or a book - does to you, you belong in the asylum. Don't blame the media, blame yourself.
I'm sure some of you had a Grandpa or Great Grandpa who said that TV was gonna Rot your brain!
TV DOES rot your brain, just FYI. And before you say that I'm being as silly as the people who blame violence on video games, let me tell you: TV rots your brain only if you allow it; but since 90% of the TV content doesn't carry any other purpose, I don't see a point in owning a TV. My house doesn't have a TV connection and never will, as long as I can help it. When I'll get the TV, I'll connect it to my PC to watch movies and play games on it, nothing more. If you waste your time on watching news and political debates on TV, I feel sorry for you.
