External keyboard does not help in typing letters

My laptop quit typing letters and will only type numbers... Tried using an external keyboard but it does the same

Try the following...

1. Uninstall the keyboard driver.
2. Reboot the computer (without reinstalling the driver).
3. When it restarts, it should reinstall the driver on its own.

If this doesn't help either, and both the attached and external keyboard will not work correctly, then either you have a virus or malware on the device that will need removing, or the motherboard may be failing.
