External laptop hard drive, Hook Up?

I have an internal laptop hard drive that I need to hook up from the outside to my laptop. Will the standard external enclosures you can buy work with a laptop hard drive?

yeah there are , there are IDE 2 USB adaters which has Laltop IDE slot and sata slot .
