See, this is why video game to movie adaptations always fail. Because studios take what's most popular and attempt to make a live action version.

Forget the fact that CoD is popular for its mindless multiplayer, Mortal Kombat is popular for its complex fighting mechanics, and Mario is popular because of its gameplay, just make an adaptation on anything and it will work.

The closest comparison I can make for other mediums would be the Twilight movies/books. Jumping on a popular bandwagon without assessing whether the content is good or whether what makes it popular can be translated to the screen.

They cancelled Stroker and Hoop... yet at the same time they were airing shit like 12oz Mouse.
