The only problem with sex offenders using facebook etc is if the the other person willingly posts nude pics of themselves or meet with strangers they don't know at all.

Of all the guys trying to chat up girls online, what are they really looking for in the end? does it really take a sex convict to pose potential harm?

Stop being stupid online and no one will get hurt.

How are they going to enforce that?

....I don't know how to feel about this. On one hand you don't want sexual predators on the lurk...but if they're that dangerous then shouldn't they be behind bars?

Losing you freedom one small step at a time.

Just give me one more pretext so I can spit up another restricting law!

[citation][nom]mavroxur[/nom]Internet isn't a "basic right" it's a privilege. When you break laws, then you lose privileges.[/citation]
That sounds just like the kind of reasoning that seems to be so prevalent in the government for a while now. Everything is now a "privilege" instead of a right. It's just an excuse for them to be able to hold something over your head and say "You better do what I tell you or I'm gonna take this away". If you have a computer and the money for internet access that qualifies as having the right to the internet, IMO. Just like owning a gun or a drivers license, yet they want to threaten you with taking away those "privileges" at every opportunity even if you haven't shot anybody or driven drunk. That's not the kind of principles this country was founded on.

Anyway, ban the pervs from myspace and facebook and they'll just move to other places online if their that set on being a perv. Wasn't everyone freaking out about chat rooms not long ago? Better add all those to the list. What about video chat sites? And don't forget forums cause they'll socialize with people there, possibly underage. By then you might as well just go ahead and take away their whole internet "privilege".

I think the government has taken the sex offender thing too far. I know there are bad people out there who need to be dealt with and parents need to control their out of control brats and keep them off line.
It's gotten to the point if you have a fight with your girlfriend and she wants to screw you it does not take much to get the label. Then you are stuck with it the rest of your life. Those evil men with their evil penises is what the feminists in DC think and say behind closed doors.
Touch your wife with one finger trying to make a point in an argument and or girlfriend and you get a felony rap for domestic violence and loose your gun rights, thanks to over zealot feminists politicians in DC and the support of dickless spinless males.

As much as I hate to say it on here. Im an offender.
I was 19, my girlfriend was 16 (shes now my current wife of 13 years).
but for 13 years Ive had the problems hat come with the tag of the offender..now this.
WAY to make people assume an offender is a guy in a white van with candy...screwing over a whole NUMBER of other people with their laws

Why are there any "level 3" sex offenders out there?

They should've gotten the electric chair to keep us all safer and save the government some money.

The purpose of jail should not be to punish, but to protect the public form people that are a dangerous threat to society. Put these people in jail, but better yet put them to death.

As for DXWarlock. The law that put you away is ridiculous and you shouldn't even be on the sex offender list. There should be a common sense review of what constitutes a sex offender. Clearly you're not a threat to society.

As for Regulas, there's never any reason to hit a woman unless she's about to kill or maim you. You're a scumbag. Control your anger.

NOTE: If your adventurous and you and the wife try having sex in a semi public place and get caught. You have to register as a sex offender.

The current laws a very out dated and you would be surprised to see what includes a "sexual offense".

In reality this isnt about keeping children safe (even though thats what your being told). This is a clear case of one of our biggest fears being used against us. This is really about having another way to keep an eye on everyone.

Wake up or they will take all of our rights away by using our fear against us.

it's hard to justify banning individuals from using the internet, and it's even harder to keep them from doing so even if banned. Having said that, parents do need to take responsibility and keep up on the activities of their kids online, sex offenders or not. One thing I would like to know, is how do they expect to enforce this law? Seems a mite bit far fetched to think anyone could. Especially considering you can do so much with a cash paid cell phone/mid in random places making the person using these methods virtually untraceable.

This is stupid. The real truth is that something like 95% of all sex offenders are on that list for really stupid reasons that most people wouldn't even consider a big deal at all. It's very seldom that these people actually raped someone for example.

For example, if you go to a web site and the site has some girl that's 17 nude on it you would be be in felony possession of child pornography regardless of if you knew or not. If your computer was searched for any reason at all you'd be going to jail my friends. There was just a story about some celeb photos being released and she was only 17 at the time of the nude photos... you go searching and find the photo, you are now considered a sex offender.

I'm serious. The laws are that crazy. As soon as you get even a little bit involved with the judicial/prosecution people they get your number and you're doomed, you get on watch lists and bam - next thing you know you're a sex offender for practically no good reason.

And this can be applied to any number of things, not just internet porn. A just turned 18yr old having sex with his 17yr old girlfriend...BAM, sex offender. You spank your daughter on the butt and she gets really pissed off and goes to the police to file a complaint - BAM sex offender.

Don't judge these "offenders" so harshly, chances are VERY good you've committed equal so-called crimes as them in your life. The laws are twisted and have swung too far in the name of justice...there are millions of sex offenders now since society got so politically correct and lost all common sense in the last 5 years or so.

Will this cause more or less sex offenses? Laws like this may make it harder for ex-sex offenders to normalize. No Facebook friends, means lonly ex-sex offender visits 'undergound' networking sites instead.
