Filesharing is not illegal. Sharing copyrighted material IS illegal.

No P2P filesharing is not illegal. Downloading copyrighted material (such as songs, movies etc...) without the consentment of the owner of the material is illegal. So you can use kazaa to download non-copyrighted material in full legality.

In ancient times they had no statistics so they had to fall back on lies

Yeah but most mp3s, software and the like that one downloads from these fileshareing are copyrighted.

I'm just worried because of the possibility of tracking an illegal download. Is that at all possible? I'm sure the government has its own collection of hackers working on their side trying to shutdown pirating.

Maybe I'm reading too many novels.

All software I have at this time on my computer is legal. I even uninstalled XP's Pirated Edition from my computer.

they will probly make an example of you if you have an obscene amount of big lable stuff. but 99% of the people out there wont even be considered to be punished.
