Fire stick with projector and avr

How do I connect a fire stick to my home theater with a projector and a receiver with hdmi switching.....

Connect the stick to one of the HDMI inputs on the receiver. Connect the HDMI out of the receiver to the projector.

I tried connecting to the 4 outputs on my Sony receiver but nothing seems to work. No sound or picture. I connect it to the projector without the receiver and no problem I have video and sound, but can't play with my surround

Assuming that the HDMI switching on the receiver works with other sources you could use an HDMI audio extractor to provide an audio out for your receiver.

Doesn't the Fire stick support Bluetooth audio?? If it does, can't you just pair a sound bar or some speakers to that??
