Found a laptop in the trash.Seems to be working but battery is not charged.

Hi guys,
i found a laptop passing by the trash and i tried to start it and the battery light started flashing.I opened the cover of the laptop and found that the HDD is missing(normal).It doesn't state anywhere in the laptop what's the model but i am pretty sure i found it in the internet Toshiba Satellite L305-S5918.
It says that it needs a 19v 3.95A charger and i have a charger from my moms laptop that has 19.5v and 3.3A.Pretty sure i can't make it work but what are my options?If only i could see if the monitor is working...Is there anyway to charge it or use it without it's charger?

is the cpu fan spinning? reseat the ram after you clean the ram's gold contacts with a pencil eraser.

The CPU fan is spinning and i reseat the ram but no luck.Maybe it's programmed this way when there is no HDD installed.

I wish I knew about this last week as I had a customer's Toshiba latop to get some work done on it & I could have pulled the hd out of it to see if get those beeps or not. if came with main battery in it, remove it to see what happens to the beeps. could also be you still don't have enough amps required to properly run that laptop which might be causing the continuous beeps.

I am going to try tomorrow for the battery.I charged the laptop for 5 minutes and then tested it with the cable unplugged so i don't think that amps are the issue.

5 minutes is not enough time so try an hour or more with the laptop turned off.

I wasn't expecting it to work due to lower amps so when it did i quickly unplugged it and started to work on it.After some time the laptop shut down and now doesn't start up.(No charge)

connect that adapter to the laptop but still turned off to see if battery will charge up after a few hours.

I will but i am worried of the power supply catching fire.Although it didn't get hot when i was charging it (5 mins)

I don't think it will catch fire as long as laptop is not on when battery is being charged.

Yeah that's what i was thinking...I will let it charge but keep a mind on it and if it passes the one hour test i will leave it on it's one next time
