i have a presario cq71 laptop how do i connect it to my sharp aquos tv with a hdmi lead

Plug it into the HDMI out on the laptop? If there isnt one, youll need an adapter for whatever plug type it uses.

yes there is place for it on the laptop, got it plugged in now, got a picture but no sound !

Since that's obviously the real problem, my first bit of advice is to state the actual problem upfront. Asking how to connect an HDMI cable to your laptop isn't the same as asking why you don't have sound from the HDMI cable you already connected to your laptop.

go into the windows audio properties and change it there (rt click on the speaker in the lower right hand corner, select playback devices, select your HDMI, select apply). Note that not all motherboards/soundcards/video cards will support audio pass-through over HDMI, but your should.
