oem-soft.com is just another site selling pirated software.

I know this original message was posted nearly 6 months ago but i thought i'd give you a bit of info. I too have a Sony Vaio, i bought it nearly 18 months ago and it came with a Blu-Ray reader and writer drive and WinDVD BD for Vaio pre-installed. Only now i can't play rental BD because i need to update the AACS and surprise, surprise i have to pay for it. Now i'm wondering how long it'll be before the player stops completely. As it's an OEM copy i'm not entitled to any support either, so just watch out, what at first seems really good, ends up just being as cak as everything else!

I have LG BD / HD DVD player. PowerDVD bundled with this drive allows to play BD, but I am a bit confused with resolution. Native resolution for my DELL 2709W is 1920x1200 so 1080p video should have only small black stripes (60 pixels height), but what I see looks more like 720p. Is there any way to check current HD video mode?
P.S. PowerDVD shows only video bandwidth. BD itself ("I am legend") is definetely 1080p.

Just because it is filmed in 1080p dos it not means that the picture is 1080px high, there is also an aspect ratio and most new moves is filmed in "ultra-cinema" (21:9), and the screens we mostly a using is 16:10 on computers and 16:9 on TV-screens so the black strips in top and button is going to be more then 60px if the move is filmed in 21:9 and less if its filmed in 16:9 and total away if it filmed in 19:10 even if it filmed in 1080p.!

OK PEEPS TRY THIS SLYSOFT ANYDVD
AnyDVD HD comes with same functionality as AnyDVD, but with additional features for full Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD support, including decryption of Blu-ray (BD+ and AACS) and HD DVD (AACS) movies.

Allows you to watch movies over a digital display connection, without HDCP-compliant graphics card and without HDCP-compilant display. No need to buy an expensive monitor. Sweet!

Playback your discs on your PC with PowerDVD Ultra, which otherwise do not run (titles released by Studio Canal, The Weinstein Company, Kinowelt, Optimum Releasing).

AnyDVD HD is the "must have" utility for the serious home theater enthusiast using a media center / home theater PC.

I own a viao VGN-FW180D as well purchased about 12 months ago. I had the same frustration as you - they update the AACS key every 18 months with the intention of foiling piracy. The Sony Version of winDVD BD for Vaio is not supported by the winDVD website. You MUST go to the sony website under support and find the download section. There will be a patch listed for your model of sony that will patch the system and update the AACS key and YOU DO NOT have to pay for it.
