Free smart phones without renewing contract

I am looking for a free smart phone without renewing my contract with Verizon. I have only had my phone for about 7 months and would like to upgrade to a smart phone that would help me with work and home. If anyone can help please let me know.

you do realize that smartphones retail for $300-600 right? verizon isn't just going to give you a free one because you want to upgrade to an android phone now. the reason you get a discounted (or free) phone with renewal is because this is built into the profit on your subscription. at most they might give you a % discount (in ratio to your new every two) if you insist on a new phone but don't expect free.

i'm not sure if they will take your 7 month old phone and give you any money for it. if they did it will probably be 1/4 of what you paid for it at the very most. if you got the phone you have now free or very cheap (under $60) then you're not going to get anything for it no matter what you did.
