Solved! Full HD, too much?

I'm intending on purchasing an Asus N53SV-SX138V. This model is full hd (1920x1080) and has a 15.6" screen. Whilst my vision is perfectly fine, I am concerned that the high resolution, on such a small screen, will result in text being too small to comfortably read. Would anybody who owns a similar laptop be able to comment about how comfortable they find reading the screen?

I have an Asus G51J system that runs the same resolution with the same screen size. Even at 1920 x 1080, I don't strain to read anything. The text size can always be increased from within Windows if you still find it too small though.

Why buy this one - is it VERY cheap, because everything under 24" is still very reasonably priced right now, and full HD really benefits with a bigger display.

@mman74, you do realize we're talking about laptops not monitors, right?

I'm not sure if that is full 1080, I see 1366x768, but maybe you're looking at a different one. Is this cheaper than the HP and Sager deals? I think the Radeon 6770M with the HP's is faster than a GT 540M.

Hello MrBread;

You can run across some webpages where it's a bit difficult to read certain sections.

Most web browsers will let you increase the size of the text, etc, on-the-fly without having to adjust resolution in Windows.

I think the key strokes in most browsers is CNTL+ to increase and CNTL- to decrease.
Same options are usually available in the VIEW menu of the browser.

I have been using a laptop with the same screen size and resolution for years and not had any trouble the only problem I have had is I now hate using anything with a lower resolution.

@dalauder - You are correct that some of this model have the lower resolution screen, the one that I am getting does have it. Also, I don't really think I need a more powerful GPU than the 540m, but I shall have a look those that you have mentioned to see how they compare.

From what you are saying all I think I shall get this laptop, and use the custom dpi setting to get text to a comfortable reading size.

You won't need a custom dpi setting, just use "Large Text" in Windows
