Fully charged battery doesn't run my laptop !

I have bought a brand new Toshiba satellite laptop but it only works when the AC adapter is plugged in . Although the f task bar icon indicates a fully charged battery the laptop turns off when the adapter is unplugged. I tried to turn it on while only the battery was connected but it didn't. I also noticed that the power indicator is always off and never lights up !

It's brand new! Get it replaced.
