"Future proof" laptop help

1_What is your budget? £500 - £600 (about $750 - $900)

2_What is the size of the notebook that you are considering? At least 15.4"

3_What screen resolution do you want? at least 1280 x 800

4_Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop? either

5_How much battery life do you need? 1-2 hours

6_Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)? Yes occasionally, but I'm happy with low - medium.

7_What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo / Video editing,watching movies, Etc.) Watching films occasionally

8_How much storage (H.D.D Capacity) do you need? 100g least, will use external hd mostly

9_If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links. No

10_How long do you want to keep your laptop? 5+ years


11_What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ? DVD only

12_Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons. I've had an advent 7015 since time began and its been excellent.

The key part of my ideal laptop would be that if was easy to upgrade, even if it's only the ram.

I hope this can help people to better find their ideal notebook.

alex, I'm sorry, but there just isn't any such thing as a future proof laptop.

About the only things that are easy to upgrade are memory and the hard drive. Both generally live under access covers on the bottom of the laptop. Anything else is either impossible or just not cost effective.
