Honestly, I see no way that this will be less than $350. The 3DS is priced at $250 (which I think is ludacris to begin with) and they've admitted that it will be more. I don't see it being less than $350 with the specs given. Even at that price, it's a steal for the hardware thats included, BUT i wouldn't buy one. You can buy a ps3 for that much for Christ's sake. It's inevitable that hardware will get more expensive the more they advance it, but at the end of the day, you've got to ask yourself: is it worth buying a handheld that is more money than my smart phone, but has less games, and the games will be 10x more expensive?

Its gamestop's price people.

Gamestop if a f'you ripoff anyways. They have gotten so cocky that the wont even price match and when you take in an add from Target showing a cheaper price they tell you to go there and get it cause they wont budge.

F_ck gamestop.

Given the tech in it, especially the OLED multitouch screen, I would guess that it is going to be in the $500-$600 range. I also think, however, with the 3G radio in it, it will be sold through cell service providers for $200 with a 2 year data contract.

If this had phone capabilities (like place and receive personal calls, texting, internet browsing) I could see the $400-$600 range for this and it would make me buy it. Then if all of this could be done over the PSN reliably and free...then it would be difficult to find one for sale as they would be sold out everywhere and they would no longer have to worry about any money loss. Phone carriers might get a little mad though...hehe

GameStop isn't a ripoff. Price matching is up to the manager, so if the one you went to doesn't then it's a bad store. And you can always go to tellgamestop.com to give that store bad feedback. Things will change pretty quick once they get a few bad feedbacks. And on another note the 999.99 price tag is just a placeholder until the actual price is announced. The 3DS had the same price for a month before the announcement a week or so ago.

Why bother man. If it was me, and I already know various reasons how EBGames has pissed me off in the past including keeping my preorder bonus and giving me lies and accusing me of PSX modding and piracy which I didn't do.. just came up in conversation and I almost got thrown out of the store (just me and the manager were the only ones in there) etc etc...

I'd opt for parking at Target first and if they don't have the item, then going to TRU, then to Walmart, maybe Fry's and lastly very last EBGAMES/GAMESTOP. That company literally ruined Funcoland and put Game Crazy out of business. lame.

I would only pay upto and no higher than $499.

It's like when the original Xbox came out, Microsoft lost like 1 billion from it, I don't know what cost's so much in a PSP2 that brings the price up so much, can't they just buy a bunch of hummingbird processors and stick 2 of them onto a board alongside with 512MB of RAM?

nah that would be too easy..

999 ISNT THE PRICE. It's just a general labeling when Gamestop does not know the price yet. The 3DS was listed that price until the actual price was found out. IT's avaialable for preorder at 50 dollars down. If you want to pay on it up until the release that is a convenience.
