Hello! I have been reading this forum for a while and when I began looking for a gaming laptop I instantly thought of you guys. I've been searching around for the best gaming laptop for around $1000 and the best computer I could find was the MSI GE70 Apache Pro-061 or the Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p (59406648). I understand that you guys are way more competent with computers than I ever will be so I was wondering which laptop you think is currently the best on the market (not limited to the two listed above) for around $1000. Any help would be appreciated and thank you so much for your help!

i am currently on the same war path as you bro and so far i've read that the lenovo y510p is a solid gaming rig but runs extremely hot (as to be expected with any gaming laptop) and tbh a buddy of mine told me that SLI in a laptop is just unnecessary. but if you are willing to reach out a bit farther from $1000, lenovo just came out with a new laptop that looks promising. http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/y-series/y50/ . also http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152561 seems to me to be rather solid as well, also an arms reach from $1000.

Yeah, I've been seen both of those aswell. However, I've heard that the i7 on a gaming laptop is overkill and just cause heat issues. Also all of the Lenovos have 5400 rpm HDDs, but they do have SSDs something the MSIs lack. I'm willing to spend as much as $1100 on this thing, and I'm no expert so I want to make sure I do the proper research.

I wound up deciding to push my budget a little bit and go for the ASUS ROG G750JM-DS71. This laptop gave me everything the other laptops had and more, plus it didn't have any of the overheating problems that the other laptops had. Also at the time of purchase newegg was running a special where I recieved an Acer Iconica Tab worth $180. I plan on selling that and bringing the cost down to back around $1100
