CLEVO is a large Taiwanese computer company specializing in laptops. While the Clevo brand name is perhaps not widely known, their products are re-branded and sold by known boutique brand OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers)… notably Sager, VoodooPC, Falcon Northwest, Eurocom, etc. They are also considered (by whoever knows about notebooks) to design and manufacturer the best of the best notebooks in terms of superior build quality and innovative designs.

I'd recommend the Clevo P150EM, or better yet the P170EM for just $50 more.

Missing a copy of Windows.

I'd say stick with the i7-3610QM CPU. $160 to go from 2.3Ghz to 2.6Ghz 3720QM won't get you $160 worth of extra performance IMO.

Understand about the CPU, so if we drop the CPU to the i7-3610QM would you still keep the 12GB - DDR3 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory (3 SODIMMS) or would you drop that down as well? He will be playing Blizzard games and MMOs(which I thought benefits from lots of RAM).

It's only $40 extra ... but 8GB RAM pretty much is 'lots of RAM'. I'd guess the vast majority of people play those type games successfully with 4GB or less RAM.

Maybe stick with 8GB 1600RAM for now. --> RAM is something you can always add later.

8GB DDR3 1600 notebook RAM is running just a bit over $40 these days.
(not $40 for 4GB like xoticPC offers)
