I want to get a new pc and building a desktop is OUT of the picture. I prefer a laptop and my budget is around $800. I was looking at this http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/ideapad/y-series/y410p/?sb=:000001C9:0000FCD2:&cc=[:00000238:]. What do you guys think? Please give other suggestions as well.

I like alienware laptops and some of them are very good for mobility on the go. $800 can land you a used m14x r2 or you can snipe a m15x (late model) for $500-600 with a upgraded gpu. The 17x and 18x are large DTR machine and expensive.

14x r2 or a 15x

The m15x can be upgraded to a Geforce 770m/780m but takes some effort to work correctly and the cpu can be very expensive so look for one that is already upgraded to a 840qm or a 920xm.

It's a descend budget gaming laptop. You can most likely play most modern games at medium resolution until something overheats and scraps the motherboard.

Also forget about playing games on the battery. You won't get more than 1 hour of gaming on most laptops.

You said it was decent. Is there a different one you would reccomend?

Good bang for the buck for a modern laptop but poor build quality as it is mostly plastic, I suggest looking for something more heavy duty. Also look for existing reviews from people who have already bought the machine and pictures of the machine when it is taken apart. If it is all plastic do not buy it period if it is retail as they break more often than machines with metal bodies. Also look at the cooling before you purchase as you should avoid machines with poor quality cooling such as HP/Compaq. A really good built laptop for example a Thinkpad T500/510 that has metal chassis that maintains its shape when the machine sustains a fall without cracking.
