So, Im looking to get some sort of a "gaming laptop" and i need help. i could maybe spend $1000 absolute maximum, and i want it to be pretty good. I would like to be able to play newer games like Diablo III and Borderlands 2 and such, but i also want to be able to use it for just internet surfing and other stuff like that. Any suggestions?

It depends to a certain extent on what size laptop you want; a 17 inch will be a mobile powerhouse but at the same time could probably compete with a college bio textbook for weight. At the same time a 13 inch will probably be light but could have less than admirable hardware or could have heating issues due to the fact it's tiny.

But regardless, check out the 14" lenovo y410p. It's got good hardware and price starts at $780 (more for more upgraded models of course)
core i7 4700mq
8 gb ram
gpu is (i believe): GT 755M
1 tb 5400 rpm hdd
^I'd recommend the option that included the 24 gb ssd drive if you can afford it, I definitely enjoy the speed increases

The case is a bit flimsy in places, but if you treat it right then it should...

The case is a bit flimsy in places, but if you treat it right then it should survive for a good amount of time. Just be sure to get a cooling pad when you're gaming as laptops hear up fast.

If the lenovo doesnt do it for you then check out ASUS ROG laptop selection. The G46VW was what I was looking at this summer, pretty much everything but the hard drive i was a fan of (the hard drive is about the speed of the base version for the y410p, and it looked painful to self-upgrade). But in general I've heard some good things about ROG laptops, mainly concerning cooling.

y510p is the same as y410p, just 15 inches...but the graphics card is slightly worse than the one that is now shipping with the y410p according to the website.

That being said, it wouldnt surprise me if they start shipping out the y510p with better cards as well at some point seeing as how they upgraded the smaller model already
