I am looking to buy a gaming laptop and I am wondering if somebody could recommend a brand or a specific laptop to me. My budget is about $1000-$1500 and I want to be able to run Skyrim and record with fraps at the same time

Any Suggestions?

Get the Asus 660ti. It's faster and runs cool. Also, it's $235. The EVGA you chose is $295. It'll save you 460 and still play Skyrim at the same settings. If you feel like $295 is ok, then I would tell you to spend $25 more and get a 670. The 670s are dropping in price cuz the 770 and 760 were released. At $295 I strongly suggest not getting the EVGA model.

Otherwise great build.

Why get on tracks for a laptop? If you can get more with a Desktop? The only thing Iee with a laptop that it gives you mobility, It's not like a desktop that you need to necessarily have to be just locked in a corner of your room.

I modified your build:
RAM: it's still 2x8gb 1866, but I cost one that is just as good but costs less.
SSD: You don't know why now but you will be happy you bought one. Everything becomes snappier.
GPU: Don't get the EVGA SC model. It is loud. and the MSI one is much quieter and runs just as fast (and cool).

well..... what can I do about it? I don't have the money now and probably wont until Christmas. I was hoping to buy the parts then and build it over break but I don't know what will be good around that time

The best suggestion I could give now which would be most beneficial to you (Would not consist any sort of rumors and estimates) -

Open a new thread just 1 week before buying all the items and Private Message the users of whose suggestions you liked right now because none of us at the moment have the idea of which new components would be worth buying. We also don't know the price performance ratio of HD 8000 series because its not released yet.

Simple as that. 😉

She's right. Prices will change a lot between now and Christmas. At least you have an idea what you can get for the money.

Another suggestion could be to buy some parts slowly over time. Like if you see a PSU or RAM at an insanely cheap price. Buy it. Maybe you can slowly accumulate some things with time.

If your going to assmble a laptop stop
If you do the math its just a waste of money, laptops are unfriendly to self builders
Alienware is nice and all but brands like asus and sager, compel will offer better for the price maybe not prettier but better, many of those big brands like asus are rebranded sagers or msi
