Hello all,
My birthday is coming up and I am getting money for a gaming computer. I will be getting roughly 600-700 dollars and I can put in a few more if needed. I was wondering what I should do, should I buy parts and build a desktop, or buy a gaming laptop? I have a laptop I use for school, but it is horrendous for gaming, and recently I had to fresh install windows, and my graphics card isn't recognized, so games run even worse. So should I build/buy a desktop, or buy a laptop?

Solution
At $700, most laptops perform poorly in gaming. I would consider getting a gaming laptop about $900. At the price point, the desktop will be much better than the laptop as it will be able to play at high settings at 1080p. The laptops at that price point will be reduce to 900p medium settings on demanding games

at those prices, a gaming desktop is going to be 3 times faster than a gaming laptop. If you want a good gaming laptop, $1000 is the littlest i'd suggest.
