I am after a laptop purely to play strategy games such as football manager, simcity, total war, so what would be the best laptop to buy for around £400.

Go on a website call xoticpc.com. for your budget you could probably score a gtx 650m or gt 640, just make sure you get a new cpu.

Id suggest looking at some Clevo UK distributors as shipping from US will be expensive and poses warranty issues.

£400 is currently about $605 USD and that's a bit weak for "normal" gaming. I consider the entry point there at about $825 and that gets ya a 650M with comparable performance w/ other components. Can't really speak to the games you mention but at $600, we talking mostly Intel integrated GFX.... 640M's start about $650
