Gateway gaming laptops?

Ok so i have spent a few days looking for the best laptop that is not over $2000. I ask some people i new and they told me to look at the gateways gaming laptops. so i found the Gateway® P-7808u FX Edition ($1700)and the Gateway p-7805u FX Edition($1300).
now the 7805u has the older one and has alot of good reveiws and what not. the 808u must be brand new with no reveiws. i want to know which one i should buy. here are the specs. keeping in mine i play alot of high end games and want to play them with no problems. along with alot of movies and music. now if you guys now of a gaming laptop that is better then this let me now and keep it under $2000! http/www.gateway.com/systems/compare/compare_results.php

The only thing the 7808 has over the 7805 is a Quad core CPU. I'm not sure it's worth the extra $500 though. Keep in mind that the 7805 and 08 only have 1440x900 displays which is a pretty low resolution for a 17'' laptop.

Two other options would be the Sager NP5797 which is the latest and greatest for ($1800)or the NP5793 which is a slightly older system, but is comparable to the Gateway and is on sale for $1300.

I compared the 5793 to the 808u and the price is about $2000 when i customize the specs to match the 808u. what will the quad core cpu do from my laptop that a dual core cant? is the resolution going to hurt my game play or is it just not the best? am i over looking somthing of the 5793? what makes the 5793 better then the 808u? lol not trying to put down your suggestion down, im just trying to get the best and the best out of the money im spending.

should i get the Nvidia GeForce GTX 260M Graphics with 1GB DDR3 Video Memory would that be good enough with just 1GB or should i stay with the Nvidia Quadro FX 2700M Graphics with 512MB DDR3 Video Memory. its a $267 diffrance. and do i really need the Intel 4GB TurboMemory Module? also is there anything on the gateway that beats this system. thanks for the sager hook up

You don't want the Quadro FX card. It is a professional series graphics card designed for stuff like AutoCAD, not gaming. In the case of Quadro vs GTX260, more expensive does not mean better. IMO Turbo Memory is a waste, there isn't a whole lot to gain for the price and with 4gb of system memory, your system should be plenty fast.

my roommate said i should go with a strong alianware that is $2599 but idk if that is to much for my gaming needs or if this is good enough.

No offense, but your roommate is a fool and needs to research a bit. There is nothing Alienware offers that makes their systems worth the price they charge. I would choose a Sager ANY day over an Alienware.

I'd agree with you lostandwandering. The Quadro unless you're doing design work in AutoCAD or some other such program is a poor choice and I'll definitely agree that Alienware are overpriced and overhyped. They are owned by Dell now anyways and honestly why buy an Alienware that's fancy bling when you can buy the equivalent XPS for less money? I'd go with the Sager though never seen a bad setup out of them and the prices are great for what you get.
