Hello everyone,

Me and my girlfriend are trying to get back into WoW after playing Warcraft, but her laptop has an issue that makes it impossible for us to play together. Her laptop, for some reason overheats and just turns off at seemingly random times. AFAIK, she has neglected the laptop over time, by dropping it multiple times. She also says she has fallen asleep with it on, but I'm not sure if that's done any damage or not, I would assume it would since it's a laptop.

I'm unsure of what to do, I was planning on opening the laptop and applying some thermal paste, but I would consider myself a inexperienced with handling laptops.

Thanks! :bounce:

Hi,

The first thing I would do is to clean the inside of the laptop. Using compressed air, blow off the dust from the cooling fans and make sure there's no pile of dust on the cooling fins as well. Apply new thermal paste on the CPU and GPU as well. And lastly make sure to get all the latest drivers for your laptop specially for the GPU.

Here's also a video guide that may help.
