Gateway NE71B Laptop: Blank Display

I bought my Gateway NE71B laptop in 2012. A few weeks ago, the screen stayed blank (dark) when I booted it up. I connected it to an external monitor, and the screen showed up fine, so I ordered a replacement LED screen; however, installing it didn't fix the problem (the screen is still dark). I double-checked the ribbon connections, but it still won't work.

The hard drive spins, and I can use the computer without issue as long as I use an external monitor. I also checked the brightness control before I replaced the screen. I'm not sure where to go from here: what else could be wrong?

OP here. I didn't think LED screens had inverters. Do some LEDs have an inverter?

my mistake. well the only thing for you to do is have a gateway tech have a look(if it's still under warranty) if not let a laptop tech have a look. the video card is probably fine since you can hook it up to the external monitor. there's probably some other thing that is at fault.
