I lost my Facebook pictures while cleaning my phone

Cleaning your phone, as in you did a factory reset or deleting programs? Are they still in Facebook? If you don't have backups of them somewhere and they are not saved in your Facebook account then they are gone. Say if they were downloaded to the phone storage.
