Getting earbuds to work through connected computer

I have my laptop connected to my TV, but i just want the sound to come out of my computer so i can listen to audio via the earbuds connected to the computer. Is there anyway i can do this?

Right click on the speaker icon in your Windows' notification area. Select "Playback devices" and set the port where your earbuds is connected to as the default.

Or another way to do this is going to control panel>hardware and sound>sound> then playback devices, then you would change the default device from TV to "speaker" as its normally called.
