Gl702vt SSD upgrade on HDD only model

Does the none SSD varient of the gl702vt support a slot for SSD upgrades?

I was thinking of buying this laptop at a cheaper price with the model having a HDD then later inserting an SSD into the dedicated pcie slot for ssd's. But I'm unsure if this model has a slot for SSD upgrades at all

The hard drive in your laptop is a 2.5" drive and SSD's are 2.5" as well and swapping a laptop drive for an SSD is totally possible. The savings for the HDD version of your laptop is because the HDD is cheaper than an SSD and the savings is passed on to the customer. All you need do is pop off the cover to your hard drive, unplug the cables from it and plug them directly into the SSD for the are configured for the same cabling. It takes all of about 5 minutes to do and that is including the time it takes for removing and replacing the screws that give you access to the drive bay.

p.s. I would make sure that you have the capability of reloading/activating Windows on the new SSD by ensuring you have an install file loaded on a USB drive and the activation key to make Windows work.

Connectivity for SATA HDD or SSD is identical, they only differ in the way they store data and the technology used within them. You can therefore replace an HDD with an SSD no problem, whether it be on a laptop or a desktop PC.

Here's the thing. I'm not replacing the HDD. I'm looking to add an SSD into a seperate mini pcie slot that this particular laptop should have. Look here:

This is a model that comes with a HDD and SSD. (Image found in a review)
As you can see, theres a blue plated HDD at the bottom, and a green plated SSD right above it.

I am wandering if the HDD only model has a vacant slot for future ssd upgrades

Ah! I see! It appears to have an m.2 SSD. That makes more sense. After doing a little research, I went directly to Asus' site and pulled up the manual on the laptop. On page 89 it specifically shows upgrading with adding an m.2 SSD...in fact, it appears there may be 2 locations for m.2 additions. Check it out, here's the link:

It makes perfect sense too, for I would be surprised if Asus had different motherboards for the same model, and the added cost to the SSD version is simply to cover the cost of the added drive.
