Good laptop for mid graphic gaming?

I can pick up this laptop Dell Inspiron 7000 15.6" Gaming Laptop (Intel Core i5-7300HQ, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, GTX 1050 4GB) for £699 and am wondering is it a good laptop for mid graphic gaming and some basic college work.

Yes, it will be fine your needs. The GTX 1050 should definitely not have any problems playing games at 1080p with medium graphics settings. It is basically a little bit better than the previous generation GTX 965m GPU. That Dell laptop has pretty good battery life of about 7 to 8 hours based on average usage (no games). I think I read that it can last 6 hours of continuous video playback.
