Hi I'm curently looking for a laptop to take with me on a 9 month trip, I want it to be able to play games, not really new games...

Here's a few of the games I wanna be able to play at mid-high settings:

Sims 2
WOW (and expansions while we're at it)
Age of empire 3 (was told it was a straineous game so it's not as important)
Hellgate london
KOTOR 1 & 2
Dark Star one
Fable

As stated above I want to be able to play kost of these games on mid-high settings (mid being the minimum I'd settle for)

I also tend to have high memory applications open so 2 to 3 gigs would be nice as well as 1.66 to 2 ghz CPU

as for the price range I'll say around 900 to 1000 but I'd be looking for sales, also Newegg is irelevant to me as I am in Canada.

I personally think that Acer makes great laptops and they aren't over priced. Below is the one I just purchased about 2 months ago from new egg.

Acer Aspire AS7720-6604 Intel Core 2 Duo T8100(2.10GHz) 17.0" Wide XGA+ 3GB Memory 320GB HDD DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT

Since you are looking for a Canadian Company and are trying to stay under $1000. I found this one below on NCIX.com

Acer Aspire 7720-6026 Core 2 Duo T5250 2GB 160GB 17.0IN WUXGA DVDRW WLAN Vista Premium Notebook
$999.99 CAD

The processor is not the newer C2D, but 17 IN and 256 mb under 1k isnt bad IMO :)

that is pretty good indeed, though two things:

I prefer 15" as 17 will be too big/heavy (I'll be carrying it around gfor long periods of time in small spaces) and while the acer look nice outside they look butt ugly to me on the inside (the grey part)

thank you very much for your suggestion as they've given me a very solid base to judge other laptops on

*edit* though are there any good gaming 15" laptops?

*edit 2* this one looks good
