Tom's : going to dominate the article commenting sector with its new ad-based business model.

As for Android, I'm not surprised that its profitable. It's long passed it's critical user volume.

2 things :

1) ads . is there really a point of doing these stupid ads ? better question would be : is there such a thing as a tom's reader that's stupid enough to actually click on these links ?

2) google's on a roll to world domination . nuff said .

same thing can be said for ads on the TV, does anyone sees an ad on the TV and say "i gotta have that". some are, but more are saying "stfu and get back to my show!".

ads are how i find out when games come out, or other various things without immersing myself in the worlds completely.

if you are thinking infomercial like commercials, like shamwow, slapchop, or nuwave, than yea, those are designing for impulse buyers.

ads are there to keep things free for the end user. without this sort of revenue you will be paying for it out of your own pocket. pick your poison.

about adblock: if everyone did this, the website couldnt rely on this business model anymore. I realize how annoying ads are but you're just kicking yourself in the rear you know.

not completely true. the advertising charges are covered by manufacturers by increasing the price of the product they've advertised. thus indirectly we pay for the ad.

its not like we would buy all that, that is advertised. but still, the charges are transferred..
