Review Google Pixel 9 review: Great cameras, longer battery life

I have to admit, it's weird to complain that a phone came out earlier than expected and that it doesn't have an OS that hasn't been released yet. The tone there is just strange. Like, it's not going to get Android 15 when it comes out? Should they have delayed the phone to debut it along with Android 15? Why? Isn't this article about the phone rather than Android 15 expectations? I don't get it, it just seems irrelevant and alters the voice and conclusions of this article.

The pixel 9 has been my main phone for the past few weeks and I am disappointed. The camera is very inconsistent, its a 50 mp, however; this is limited to 12.5MP on the base Pixel. The pixel pro and xl can take high res, and its the same sensor. So this is a decision by Google to make you want to upgrad. There are no manual controls - not even exposure. Lots of features of the camera software have been disabled to force you to buy the pro version. The focus is also different and has a very hard time in low light.

Wireless charging is slow, at best. We tried several different chargers, the pixel 9 simply cannot fast wireless charge.

Apps are also prone to hang. Many, even Google own will hang with a black screen. Trying to setup emergency settings resulted in having to reboot numerous time before the app would not hang. Other apps will also randomly produces this black screen on launch.

The phone is fairly fast for day to day operations and the battery life is good.

But overall I'm pretty disappointed having used other flagships - the pixel 9 is a step down.
